About
Integrating Ancient Healing Traditions with Modern Insights from Psychology and Trauma Theory
The late-1990s Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study and its follow-up established a strong relationship between childhood adversity and adult chronic health issues. According to research, 60–80% of chronic illness patients had suffered some form of childhood trauma. Much of this study focused on overt trauma, leaving the impacts of more subtle, hidden wounds unaddressed, suggesting the true impact may be greater.
The Daoist healing arts, which includes Chinese medicine, offer a unique viewpoint on the relationship between unresolved emotions and physical health. Over millennia, Daoist medicine has evolved countless techniques to restore harmony to the body, mind, and spirit by recognizing emotional imbalances as a fundamental cause of illness and suffering.
Adverse childhood experiences, childhood complex trauma that results from them, Daoist healing, and addiction are examined on this site. I share insights, perspectives, and practical strategies to help you heal the buried scars of childhood trauma and addiction with Daoist arts. My goal is to help you recognize and transform these impacts using the Dao’s timeless wisdom to restore balance and peace.
Mission: Empowering Transformative Healing Journeys
Guided by my own path of healing, my goal is to enable others to uncover and transform the covert scars of childhood trauma. Through the lens of the Daoist healing arts, I hope to provide people who may, like I once did, feel invisible or alone in their struggles with a sense of visibility, protection, and balance. My goal is to empower individuals to recognize how early experiences affect their current life and guide them toward inner strength, resilience, and peace. Together we travel a path that honors the quiet, transforming power of the Dao, nurturing each step toward wholeness and harmony.
From Adversity to Empowerment: The Path of a Wounded Healer
Just out of high school, I began my holistic healing journey with a gym membership. Now 45+ years later, I continue my study and practice of exercise, fitness, and nutrition. My expertise ranges from the intricacies of diet and nutrition to the culinary arts, where I honed my skills in professional kitchens for 15 years.
In 2000, I embarked on a transformative path, pursuing a four-year master’s degree in acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and the Daoist healing arts in California, USA. After graduating in 2005, I quickly obtained my license to practice, marking the beginning of nearly 20 years of dedicated work in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
Alongside my studies in Chinese medicine, I explored psychology and eventually delved into childhood complex trauma. My commitment to holistic healing is fueled by my own experiences with childhood adversity, including my mother’s early illness and my father’s struggle with alcohol addiction. Despite facing numerous challenges, I remain dedicated to deepening my expertise in Chinese medicine, Daoist healing arts, and trauma studies, with a particular focus on the internal practices of Daoist healing arts.
